  21. Boot a mega 2 with TOS 1.4 (UK version) with AHDI 3.01 as autoboot driver.
  22. Place cache90.prg in the auto folder. No other auto program. Cache90
  23. says: no cache buffers added. Is this normal?

  102. There's nothing to add. It's nonsense to have several atari groups with
  103. 1 or 2 messages per day. As long as c.s.a.s have a hundert news per day
  104. don't create a new atari group!

  121. You can have two programs do what you want.
  122.  
  123.    (1)  Use any ramdisk that boots from the AUTO folder.
  124.         The ramdisk has to be the first ".PRG" you put
  125.         into the folder.  (I trust edisk21 or eternl2.)
  126.  
  127.    (2)  Use "bootcopy".  You create a file listing the copy
  128.         commands you want.  Bootcopy then uses this file to
  129.         control the copying.

  168. Four new joystick ports were added, directly interfaced to the 68000
  169. bus, rather than using another IKBD controller. The table above gives the
  170. locations of the hardware registers for the joysticks, paddles and light
  171. gun/pen inputs. Note that the joystick registers are bidirectional, and
  172. can therefore be written as well as read. If the registers are  written,
  173. then the outputs are driven until the registers are read again.
  174.  
  175. Two paddle controllers can be connected with eight bit resolution on
  176. each axis, and the current position of each of the four paddles are
  177. reported in the registers shown in the table. No information is given in
  178. the data sheets as to the voltage range that the A/D converters function
  179. in, but I would guess that it is 0-5V. The triggers on the paddles are
  180. bits zero and one of $FF9202 (Joystick 0 left and right.)

  182. The light gun/pen position is reported in $FF9220 and $FF9222. The
  183. x-axis accuracy is four pixels in low resolution, eight pixels in medium
  184. res., and sixteen pixels in high resolution. The y-axis position is
  185. accurate to within one pixel in all modes. The x position only ranges
  186. from 0 to 319, and therefore must be left shifted for other screen
  187. modes. Again, no electrical information is provided on how to
  188. implement a light gun/pen.

  207. To *ALL* Atari ST owners worldwide!

  209. Are you interested in becoming involved in a snail mail list of ST
  210. users? I know that most of you will be like me and quite happy using
  211. the Email facilities at your site, but spare a thought for us final
  212. year students who will soon be losing all access to such facilities if
  213. the company we join has not got network links!! (Arrgghh, too horrid to
  214. consider!). So to get around this I was wondering if any of you would
  215. like to help me get a list together of interested parties who could then
  216. keep in touch and prevent themselves losing touch with the ST community
  217. at large (this would be especially easy if someone who still had net
  218. access could summarise current topics or forward news and advice!)

  220. I'm not thinking of anything major league for the entries on the list,
  221. just sort of name, address, interests and optionally a few lines about
  222. yourself.

  234. So far this list has generated a very reasonable level of interest from
  235. many countries around the world (both in the USA and Europe!). This is
  236. encouraging and so I have merged the two lists into one and now the list
  237. that many of you will be receiving will be totally global.

  239. Remember: it is not too late, join now and beat the christmas rush! :-)
  240. Joining the list does not commit you to anything, you do not have to
  241. communicate with anyone if you do not want to! There is no pressure, I will
  242. not sell the list to any organisations!
